French Alps Cycling Tours & Sportives
Welcome to 1st Category Cycling. We are a dynamic, high mountain, cycling holiday company based in the heart of the French Alps. We offer bespoke bike tours and cyclosportives in the most famous ‘climbing’ areas of the French Alps from our Chalet in Montperron near Bourg St Maurice in the Tarentaise valley.
Have you ever seen yourself cycling to the summit of the Col de La Madeleine or descending through snow banks from the top of the Col de l’Iseran. Maybe you want to tackle the awesome Grand Alps route from Flumet to Nice with your friends or perhaps cycle the Mont Blanc route taking in the spectacular backdrops of Chamonix. Whatever your alpine cycling dream or holiday, 1st Category Cycling can help you realize it.
We offer fully guided and supported tours of the French Alps from May to October. Our tours range from centre based tours in our lodge, Chalet Montperron, tackling the 15 different ‘tour’ climbs within a day’s cycling from the lodge, to cyclosportive entries or even A – B trips and transalpine tours to the Mediterranean town of Nice.
1st Category Cycling is the dream and venture of Simon Atkinson and Conor Watney, both experienced individuals within the cycling and ski industry respectively.
Our wealth of local knowledge and catering expertise mean your cycling trip allows you to do just that, cycle!, without the organisational problems of preparing your own trip. 1st Category will organise everything throughout the week from airport transfers to bike hire and nutritional and technique advice to the accommodation, gourmet food and great service.
